Enniskeane Duchess RID
By Glenagyle Rebel out of Skipping Lara
Duchess or Doris as she is now fondly known is our founder mare, and is how the obsession started! In 2002 Allan travelled to Ireland on his own, his partner (in crime) Ogilvy was on holiday. Spending for both of them, Allan tentatively bid on this lovely mare who was in foal to Fast Silver…. And the rest, as they say is history…
Doris has, year after year produced quality youngstock, the first being Laighlands Countess by Fast Silver, who has the most fabulous movement and has had many great showing wins. She has been sold to Yorkshire and has produced a lovely filly foal for her delighted new owner. Her next foal, Laighlands Rebel a colt by Rebelara (pictured above), was broken and sold to a local lady who is competing him with much success. Her next foal, another colt by Rebelara, Laighlands Silver Earl is at home now, and has just started his education. This three year old grey gelding is for sale. Next she produced another colt, this time by Caerba Legacy, Laighlands Souter Jonnie. Last years foal by Ebony Hill, Laighlands Loch Tay has just been gelded and will be for sale soon. He was a prolific in hand show winner and top colt at the 2010 Irish Draught breed show.
We are eagerly waiting for Dorris to foal in 2011, her first by Classic Scott.

Lady Grace of Leylandii RID
by Blackthorn out of Lady Megan of Leylandii
We purchased Macy from Mark Mortimer in 2004. She has been an absolutely massive asset to us, not only as a brood mare but because she has an extremely accomplished showing career in her own right. Her fabulous looks and eye catching, movement has lead to many showing wins, standing not only Irish Draught Champion many times but also taking Supreme Champion of Campsie show in 2004. She is a beautifully eye catching chestnut mare, without the typical chestnut mare attitude! Her first colt foal by Rebelara was sold to Ireland. Her next colt foal Laighlands Lord of the Isles by Ballyknowe Prince stood reserve youngstock Champion at the 2009 breed show, Murphy an absolute angel who has inherited his mothers' calm temperament and fabulous movement, is still entire, and has passed as a grade 2 RID stallion. Macys' filly foal from last year by Ebony Hill, Laighlands Loch Na Dal, won both of her foal classes last year, and was extremely successful last season as a yearling.
We are eagerly waiting for Macy to foal in 2011, her first by Classic Scott.

Stonygate Contessa RID
By Enniskeane Pride out of Baultic Heather
Tess was purchased from breeder Mr Mathews in Aberdeenshire in 2008. She is a beautiful liver chestnut mare who won her Irish Draught class and stood reserve ID champion at New Deer Agricultural Show in 2009. The colt foal produced by Tess in 2009 by Ebony Hill, Laighlands Loch Fyne, was purchased as a foal at foot and his new owners took delivery of him after weaning.
We are eagerly waiting for Tess to foal in 2011, her first by Classic Scott.

Ginger Colleen RID
By Ginger Holly out of Salutation
Ginger was purchased at Cavan Horse Sales in 2007. She is a liver chestnut mare of the truly traditional draught type. She was in foal to Rockrimmon Silver Diamond when we bought her and her colt foal Laighlands Red Hackle was sold to be produced as a middle weight hunter. Her 2008 Filly foal by Ballyknowe Prince, Laighlands Meg o’ the Mill did exceptionally well when shown as a yearling and two year old. Ginger produced Laighland Stud's first foal of 2010. Laighlands Highland Laddie by Ebony Hill. He is a fabulous eye catching bay colt who is already commanding the same ‘look at me’ quality as his father. Ginger is sadly the only mare who was confirmed in foal to Ebony Hill last year. She was inseminated with the very first batch of semen, which was frozen under different conditions to the remaining batches. The remaining semen by the late Ebony Hill is proving difficult to use and it will be tested this year to establish its viability. Ginger has again produced Laighland Stud's first foal of the season. A lovely chestnut colt by Classic Scott named Cody... Show name to follow!
Ginger will be coverd by Classic Scott in 2011

By Silver Jasper out of Roma Atlantic Beauty
Beauty is another mare we purchased from Mr Mathews in Aberdeenshire in 2008. She is a truly magnificent example of an Irish Draught, with the kindest nature and tremendous light movement. She most deservedly stood ID Champion, recently, at New Deer Show.
We are eagerly waiting for Beauty to foal in 2011, her first by Classic Scott.
